'27 'T' Firetruck Rod   back  next

Built by: Dave Rasmussen in Mequon, Wisconsin

I picked up this kit because it wasn't included in the Guest Gallery.  As it often is with these old AMT kits, there are some challenges and modifications to make stuff fit, and the instructions are of little help.  That said, it's a fun kit with a ton of "dodads," which are what help make it a showrod!

I chose not to use any decals since most of them are for the "Old-Time" version of this kit, and there is enough crap hanging on this rod already. Also, I used bronze paint on the railings from Green Stuff World, which works decently, but if you order it, prepare to wait, as it comes from Spain.

Make sure you scroll to the last pic, where you'll see an authentic 1926 Ford Fire Truck on which this kit was based.  In 2025, while on vacation in Reno, NV, to see "Hot August Nights", I went to the National Automobile Museum and freaked out when I saw the 1-1 rod of the kit I was in the middle of building--that was a first!
