Moon Mixer back next
Built by: Jim Garubba (Plasmatic) in Sterling, Virginia
Because the moon needs more cement!
I picked this up as a started kit. Luckily, most of the construction was done with nonsolvent glue and fell apart readily.
As we know, these older kits are brittle, especially some of the old Revell metallic plastic blends. The right fender was snapped in two, and the window frame was a puzzle of five pieces, which was rebuilt about 6 times during this project… mostly, because, you know... thumbs. And, yes, that's all there was left of the roof antennae, and the drum rotation jets were missing. Some of the kit parts were replaced with donor pieces from less complete parts lot buys, but I tried to keep as many originals as usable.
A bit off standard, it’s painted up in a pearl fire red (the pics don't do it justice), with pearl blue seats, running board steps, and accents. Rather than white, the drum was painted in something less contrasting.
Some Bare Metal foil for the bands, and a pen part sealed off the spout. Lots of chrome pen touch-ups on the rest of the shiny silver parts. And a redone set of decals.
Thanks for checkin' in, Houston!
