Sidewinder    back  next

Built by: Kim Sondergaard in Naestved, Denmark

Here is my Sidewinder. As you probably know, it is a reissue of the Rattler, only the decals are different.  I love the Rattler, and when the Sidewinder was announced, I knew I had to have it.

The only thing I did not like on the Sidewinder, was the reddish "copper" chrome. I removed the reddish color by soaking the chrome sprue in white spirits (rubbing alcohol) for a few minutes. The reddish color was gone, and the plain chrome was restored.  Here is a video that shows the process <--link

I added a piece of red acetate plastic in the "sunroof" hole in the window, otherwise, it's built box stock.

The paint is Motip white primer, Tamiya TS-21 gold, and Mr. Hobby Premium Gloss Topcoat. I used a little Tamiya X-27 clear red enamel on the wheels, steering wheel, and the rear windows. A little Tamiya X-26 clear orange enamel was used for the balls on the injector stacks, and the engine is painted metallic blue.

I`m very happy with how it turned out, and it supplements my Rattler very well.
