Fireball 500   back  next

Built by: Jim Garubba (Plastimatic) in Sterling, Virginia

Ah, George Barris’ Fireball 500, the modified Barracuda fabricated for the Frankie Avalon movie of the same name.

This was built using the AMT/Ertl issue from 2001. It went together well, as it is not a complicated kit. I broke out the airbrush acrylics and did a broader white/orange/red fade than the real car. I wanted to really push that "flaming" fireball vibe.

This release did not have the optional yellow windscreens or expanded decal set. Age had gotten to this kit’s decals, but I managed to keep the major ones mostly together.
