The seldom-seen Firebug!
This is a restoration of one I picked up off of the Bay. The body and interior/seats were fused, but I was able to separate most of the other sub-assemblies for cleanup.
The motors were solid units, but workable. The side pipes needed some missing bits fabricated, and I reworked a new front axle to replace the busted-up one. Many of the parts were painted in place. The wheels are as they came, with some black acrylic paint on the tires to freshen their look. In the original kit, it looked like the helmet was mounted on the seat tops, but I added some mounting rods to give a little more headroom. The headlights were meant to be mounted on the frame, but the prior owner had glued them to the radiator shell, so that's where they stayed.
Painted up a bright pearl fire red, under gloss clearcoats, with plenty of chrome pen and brass highlights. Of course, I felt the need to upstyle the decals with a custom set.
A rare and wild kit. It shares many of the base pieces of the ZZR, but I’m happier with this version.
